Tangled Waves

Tangled Waves is a Montreal-based live audiovisual duo originally formed in London. Their performances explore experimental, melodic, and progressive modular synthesis, paired with real-time, hand-drawn, and organic digital visuals to create immersive, one-of-a-kind experiences. Combining imagination, fantasy, and a dreamlike aesthetic, Tangled Waves offers audiences a unique journey through sound and image.

The duo has released three albums to date. Their debut, Signal from VALIS (2020), drew inspiration from sci-fi classics, while Space (2022) compiled live material from performances with Modular World, Data Cult Audio, and the Colorado Modular Synth Society Skies collection. Their most recent album, Aeons (2023), is available on Bandcamp and continues their exploration of modular soundscapes.

Tangled Waves has performed in venues across London, Brighton, Tokyo, Paris, Reykjavik, and New York. In Montreal, they are regular participants at Modular & Synths Quebec meetups, Brain Freeze Mtl, and Montreal Modular Mondays. In August 2023, they were resident artists at the Estonian Artists Association in Muhu, Estonia.
