Nix Roenga (Umberto Cirrito) is a Montréal-based experimental electronic music artist and sound explorer whose practice is rooted in acoustic experimentation and avant-garde composition.
Having studied at the Tangier Conservatory in Morocco in the late 1960s, he developed an early interest in music before moving toward a more unconventional and exploratory approach to sound. Rather than following traditional paths, Nix Roenga focused on the physicality of the piano, exploring strings, resonance, natural reverb, and the instrument as a sonic object.
In Québec, he has participated in several experimental music groups, developing a practice centered on improvisation, texture, and sonic research. His work contributes to the Montreal experimental and electroacoustic music scene, bridging acoustic exploration and contemporary electronic practices.
