Nicola Torriero

Nicola Torriero is a Montréal-based DJ and electronic music producer with over 30 years of experience, recognized as a key figure in the Montreal electronic music scene. He is best known as the founder of the iconic Bal En Blanc event, which he launched in 1994 and helped shape Montréal’s global reputation in electronic music culture.

Throughout his career, Nicola has produced original music for major events such as Black & Blue and DiverCité Grande Danse, and released tracks on respected labels including Stereo Productions, Lapsus Music, and Magna Recordings.

A long-time resident at Stereo Montréal, as well as a regular presence at venues like Playground, Sona, Salon Daomé, and The Sanctuary, Nicola is known for his driving, groove-focused DJ style. His sound spans house, tribal, progressive, and techno, evolving over time toward a darker progressive edge with techno influences.

In 2015, he launched the radio show “Rhythm is Rhythm”, showcasing talent from Montréal and beyond. Still passionate about vinyl, Nicola continues to deliver authentic, analog-driven DJ sets, reinforcing his legacy in Montreal’s underground electronic music culture.
